Who is Jacob Rosenblum?
I am a father of two kids who attend Skyline Elementary. I have been active with the Skyline PTO for three years. I volunteer with after school clubs, which lets me learn more about kids and their families at our school. I have coached my kids’ Red Lions soccer teams for four years. I’m a software developer and I work from home.
I’m running for school board because I want to help our community do more with less. I bring a positive attitude, willing to tackle any challenge.
I also bring a discerning eye to ensure that we are making the best use of our resources. As an engineer, I use my science background to make sure that we have explored many different approaches before deciding on the right path forward.
I speak Spanish. I grew up in Portland, and I was fortunate enough to be part of a Spanish Immersion program in the Portland Public Schools. That allowed me to learn Spanish at a young age, something I would like more kids to be able to do.

I will ensure that students continue to have meaningful options to engage their interests in school. For some students, being able to choose subjects in school can be a joy. For some, it is a lifeline.

Language Learning Unlocks the World
I will advocate for our school district to implement a Dual Language English/Spanish Immersion Program where students that choose to can learn half the day in Spanish and half the day in English.
I will advocate for language learning in the classroom.
Nutritious Meals Serve Curious Minds
Our schools play a significant role in helping students establish healthy eating habits. We can demonstrate that we know and value the diversity in our community by offering adequate options for kids who are vegetarian for personal or religious reasons.
I will advocate for serving food with respect.
